Everett, WA (November 17, 2025) - NW Plus Credit Union announces it has set a goal of raising more than $10,000 for local food banks and pantries this year during its annual Hunger Heroes fundraiser. NW Plus CU will accept cash donations from members from November 17 - January 2, 2026. For every new member that opens an account during that timeframe, NW Plus CU will contribute $50 to Hunger Heroes. Checks will be distributed to community partners in January.
“Our mission has always been to bring humanity to what we do every day. Partnering with local food banks and food pantries allows us to turn that mission into action, and this fundraiser reflects our ongoing commitment to stand alongside our community in fighting hunger,” said Torrie Ramos, CEO, NW Plus CU.
According to the Snohomish County Health Department, around 9 percent of people in Snohomish County (roughly 1 in 11) remain food insecure.
2025 Hunger Heroes community partners are:
- Helping Hands Food Bank (Sedro Wolley)
- Stanwood Camano Food Bank
- Arlington Community Food Bank
- Mill Creek Community Food Bank
- Marysville Community Food Bank
- Millennia Ministries (Everett)
“Annual estimates show that the United States wastes between 100 and 200 million tons of food each year - enough to feed the world. Food security isn’t charity; it’s a basic human right. At Millennia Ministries, we believe that feeding our communities is food justice and our moral duty,” said Leilani Miller, Executive Director, Millennia Ministries.
