Free Flood Debris Disposal for Skagit County Households
Skagit County households affected by recent flooding can begin to dispose of debris for free on Friday, December 19th, at the Skagit County Recycling and Transfer Station, located at 14104 Ovenell Road in Mount Vernon. The site operates Monday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The facility will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Items accepted at the transfer station for free by households affected by flooding:
- Drywall
- Insulation
- Flooring/Carpet
- Furniture
- Appliances
- Similar household items
- Select household hazardous waste
Items not accepted for free by those affected by flooding:
- Tires
- Vehicles
- Asbestos
- Household Trash
- Items not damaged by flooding
- Trees or other woody debris
Sauk Transfer Station will be able to accept small loads of flood-related debris at no cost. Larger loads may be sent to the Transfer Station on Ovenell. The Sauk Transfer Station, located at 50796 State Route 20 in Concrete, is open Thursday through Sunday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The facility will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Free disposal of flood damaged items will be available through January 16, 2026. For questions on what is accepted, please call the Transfer Station at 360-416-1570.
