Critical Areas Ordinance Amendments – Work Session

Skagit County community members, business owners, and other interested parties are invited to attend the upcoming Skagit County Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

The Planning Commission will conduct a work session to review proposed amendments to the Skagit County Critical Areas Ordinance (CAO) in response to a Growth Management Hearings Board Final Decision and Order.

Proposed amendments include changes to SCC 14.24.530, as well as modifications to the maximum disturbance limits under SCC 14.24.140 (Reasonable Use Exception), intended to accommodate reasonable development on properties exceeding one acre.

These discussions may be of interest to property owners, businesses, developers, and community members who wish to stay informed about land-use regulations and development in Skagit County.

Public Comment Period

Skagit County will accept public comments regarding the proposed Critical Areas Ordinance amendments from October 15 through November 19, 2026.

A separate public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM, with opportunities to provide testimony in person or remotely.
