Join the Museum of Northwest Art for Beyond Treaties: Native Stories of Survival and Strength, a Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau presentation featuring John Halliday (Coyote).

Halliday, a Muckleshoot artist, speaker and former tribal leader, shares a deeply personal exploration of Native resilience, endurance and adaptation.

Through drumming, flute music, painting, storytelling and lived history, Halliday explores how Native communities and cultures have survived and remained strong beyond the signing of treaties. His presentation offers audiences an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Indigenous history while celebrating the creativity, strength and resilience of Native communities today.

Halliday brings extensive experience in Native cultures and Washington history. He previously served as CEO for both the Muckleshoot and Snoqualmie tribes and retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs as Deputy Regional Director for the Navajo Region.
