Skagit Symphony: American Reflections

Skagit Symphony presents American Reflections, an evening exploring the many voices of a nation through music both intimate and grand.

Joan Tower’s Made in America opens the program with bold energy, followed by Kevin Puts’ Letters from Georgia, a song cycle inspired by the letters of Georgia O’Keeffe and featuring soprano Katie van Kooten.

Narrator Ray Horak brings President Abraham Lincoln’s words to life in Aaron Copland’s A Lincoln Portrait before Samuel Barber’s Symphony in One Movement, Op. 9 closes the program with sweeping lyricism.

The evening will be conducted by Skagit Symphony Music Director Michael Wheatley.
