Forgoten No Longer: A Civil War Vet to Receive a Gravestone

Join the community for a special graveside ceremony honoring Civil War veteran George W. Snow, who will receive an official U.S. veteran’s gravestone.

Snow served as a Private in Company K, 96th New York Infantry during the Civil War. Born January 21, 1846, he passed away October 31, 1912.

The graveside service will be conducted by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and will feature Civil War re-enactors. Following the dedication, attendees are invited to take part in a tour of Civil War veterans’ graves at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery.

This special event recognizes the service of a veteran who is forgotten no longer and offers the community an opportunity to learn more about local history and those who served during the Civil War.
